Potty Mouths

So we've had a couple of disturbing things happen around here lately. First of all, I have a bit of a "bully" situation. I don't want to call her a bully, she's more of a pest, but lately this kid has been really giving me a hard time. She's been messing up my piggytails, taking stuff out of my backpack on the bus and calling me names. The other day, I told Mom I had to give her $20 to be nice to me the rest of the year. Well, Mom has been trying to teach me techniques to stand up for myself, but this was the last straw, so she contacted the mother and so far, things are better. Sure, I'm a bit thin-skinned, but I don't give nobody my money! I got up in her face and told her to knock it off, but sometimes it takes a little mommy-power.

In other disturbing news, Zach has picked up a few bad words, courtesy of Mom. The same Mom who was so vigilant about everyone speaking "G-rated" around me my whole life has been dropping some words lately that Zach has been quick to pick up. Apparently, he was saying the "S" word a lot while they were gone. And his latest thing is to yell "God D&*#it" when he gets mad. He says it over, and over and over in a very angry voice. He knows it always elicits some chuckles, so he says it more. And when he says "Oh Cwap", it's just too cute not to laugh. So Mom has been lectured by Dad and she promises to keep a wrap on it. The worst story, which is really too obscene for this blog is when the other day, Mom was driving and called the guy who cut her off a "Di#&hole". The whole way home, Zach chanted "No, no, Dic$hole". Nice. In Mom's defense, she says the same amount of cuss word per month that Dad lets out during one Bears' Game. And he drops a lot worse language!

So hopefully we get our acts together here this week....or it will be all tricks and no treats for us!

Later!

Wrapping up the Week

Howdy, howdy. What a fun week it has been. We missed Mom and Dad a lot, but we had tons of fun with our grandparents. They kept us busy, kept us fed and kept the house in one piece. Mom and Dad didn't have a thing to worry about. They had a great time in FL and even though they missed us like CRAZY, they still managed to relax and unwind.

They got back yesterday and were pretty tired, so we just hung out here and spent some time together. Today everyone was feeling back in the groove, so we took advantage of the beautiful day and took our Sunday morning hike, followed by lunch and buying our carving pumpkins. I found a great letterbox on the hike and Zach and I had fun crunching the leaves around. Mom helped me carve my jack o lantern today and Dad helped Zach with his. To the best of Dad's recollection, he said he's never carved a pumpkin before. He did a bang up job on Zach's Thomas-O-Lantern.

I am SO excited to be Student of the Week at my school this week. I'll get to eat lunch with the principal and have lots of special treatments all around.

Ciao for now!

Lucky Number Seven

Mom and Dad are celebrating their 7 year anniversary today. They are leaving for Florida tomorrow to do nothing but sit on the beach and relax. Can you believe they are going to FL and not even going to Disney? What is WRONG with them?!?! I am looking forward to having my grandparents here all week. Grandma D is coming today and then Nana and Papa will take over on Thursday.

I had my last soccer game this weekend. I really have made some progress -- I am a lot more aggressive at getting in there and getting a piece of the ball. It was a pretty nice day, so we went out with a great finish. Dad went to go farm, so Zach and I hung out at home with Mom. Mom was kind of nutty-- cleaning, cooking meals and writing lists, but Zach and I were super good and really entertained ourselves so much. We barely fought at all and even made cards for Mom and Dad. We played outside a bunch, rented some movies and got all 48 of our spring flower bulbs planted.

No recent pics to post, so enjoy an old one of Zach showing off his dinosaur tattoo!

Later taters!

Gonna Party Like it's 1929

We had a fun weekend with our family. We headed up to WI on Saturday. We were supposed to go to the farm, but it was cold and Dad wasn't feeling too well. Working on the combine with a cold in the cold is no fun. So we got to Nana's late that afternoon, we just hung out and played up there. On Sunday, we went to Papa Miller's 80th birthday party. His daughters did a very nice job putting everything together. The cake was delightful and Grandpa had lots of people turn out to celebrate which made him very happy. We had to leave right after because Dad had to work today, so it was a short visit, but fun nonetheless.

I had a dentist appointment today. Unfortunately, I had another cavity, which takes me up to two total. I will go back for a filling next month. Zach watched the entire cleaning. He got a toothbrush and a prize for being a good listener. Hopefully that will help encourage him to do well when he starts going next year.

I've got the day off school. I've been playing with Pleo a lot and we're going to do some journaling this afternoon. Mom found a new download for Pleo to give her some Halloweeny behaviors, so we're going to have fun with that.

Later taters! Which reminds me, Mom let us have tater tots for lunch and we both hated them. Go figure! She sometimes lets us have something junky and fun like Spaghetti-O's or Velveeta, but we never like it. Probably for the best.

Jumping for Joy!

After many phone calls, internet searches and one trip to the ghetto-nasty K-Mart. Mom finally tracked down the Thomas Sheets at a moderately nice K-Mart. Yes, Mom has kind of gotten over the whole "commercialism" thing and just lets him have what makes him happy. Fortunately, her grumbling about the ghetto K-Mart saying they had it (when they didn't) led to the manager of the nice K-Mart giving her a percentage off. It wouldn't be Mom unless she had a coupon or fanagaled something or the other.

SO -- Dad converted the crib to a toddler bed last night. The sheets actually went on the bed earlier in the day when it was still a crib. Zach held them the entire way home, helped Mom wash them and made his bed. He napped in it just fine. He was VERY excited at bedtime for his big boy bed, but when it came time to shut the lights off, he whimpered for a bit and wanted "my Kackine" to sleep with me. He soon fell asleep though -- never got out once during the night -- and slept until 8:30 the next day!! Hopefully that is a sign of things to come, but likely not!

My soccer game got rained out today, boo! And it was my turn to bring treats, double boo! Hopefully we will make the game up later this week. This weekend will be a quiet one. Maybe a movie, some errands and of course, lots of football.

Have a good one!

Big Steps for Little People

Sorry no post for awhile. Things have been unusually quiet around here. Last weekend Mom and Dad went to a wedding and us kids stayed at the farm. Grandma took us to a movie, Zach got lots of tractor rides and we both ate our fair share of ice cream. Mom and Dad had fun and didn't get into too much trouble!

I've been really wrapped up in school this week. Subtraction, sentence writing, spelling tests even contractions for goodness sakes! Mom had a conversation last week with a first grade teacher from a different town and she was absolutely floored when she heard what my class was doing, she even was concerned that it was maybe too much. Mom likes knowing that her tax dollars are hard at work. We have good schools. We are grateful for that everyday. Our book fair was also this week and I picked out a new Magic Treehouse Book and a Dinosaur book -- shocker, huh?

Zach has had a fun little week. Mom has had a weird week where she has helped out several friends here and there and we've had a lot of kids over for an hour or so, and Zach really enjoys that. Just long enough for some fun, but not too long to the point where they start to fight. He is really digging my old Leap Pads lately -- he's getting very good at them and will sit on the couch for an hour with some help. He's finally starting to show a true interest in learning letters and numbers, so Mom is introducing them when the moments are right. Little turkey knows a lot more than he will admit to.... 1, 2, 3, 4, dump truck is his classic line when you ask him to count. He also asked for a big boy bed with Thomas sheets this week, so Mom has been trying to hunt them down at a reasonable price. He all of a sudden is ready for some big steps all at once. She tried to buy him some Thomas underwear at the store, but he didn't want them "Thomas all wet makes him sad, Mama".

We were supposed to have an outdoor movie night in our backyard with all of our neighbors tomorrow, but the cold weather and rain put a big snafu in our plans. We even contemplated doing it in the garage, but 30 people in our 2 stall area would be tight. So we're going to hold off until next year and just watch the movie indoors with some neighbors instead. Oh well!

I've got some homework to do. And Dad and I need to spend some serious effort tonight convincing Mom to turn the heat on. Brrr~

Stay warm my peeps
