Big Steps for Little People
Sorry no post for awhile. Things have been unusually quiet around here. Last weekend Mom and Dad went to a wedding and us kids stayed at the farm. Grandma took us to a movie, Zach got lots of tractor rides and we both ate our fair share of ice cream. Mom and Dad had fun and didn't get into too much trouble!
I've been really wrapped up in school this week. Subtraction, sentence writing, spelling tests even contractions for goodness sakes! Mom had a conversation last week with a first grade teacher from a different town and she was absolutely floored when she heard what my class was doing, she even was concerned that it was maybe too much. Mom likes knowing that her tax dollars are hard at work. We have good schools. We are grateful for that everyday. Our book fair was also this week and I picked out a new Magic Treehouse Book and a Dinosaur book -- shocker, huh?
Zach has had a fun little week. Mom has had a weird week where she has helped out several friends here and there and we've had a lot of kids over for an hour or so, and Zach really enjoys that. Just long enough for some fun, but not too long to the point where they start to fight. He is really digging my old Leap Pads lately -- he's getting very good at them and will sit on the couch for an hour with some help. He's finally starting to show a true interest in learning letters and numbers, so Mom is introducing them when the moments are right. Little turkey knows a lot more than he will admit to.... 1, 2, 3, 4, dump truck is his classic line when you ask him to count. He also asked for a big boy bed with Thomas sheets this week, so Mom has been trying to hunt them down at a reasonable price. He all of a sudden is ready for some big steps all at once. She tried to buy him some Thomas underwear at the store, but he didn't want them "Thomas all wet makes him sad, Mama".
We were supposed to have an outdoor movie night in our backyard with all of our neighbors tomorrow, but the cold weather and rain put a big snafu in our plans. We even contemplated doing it in the garage, but 30 people in our 2 stall area would be tight. So we're going to hold off until next year and just watch the movie indoors with some neighbors instead. Oh well!
I've got some homework to do. And Dad and I need to spend some serious effort tonight convincing Mom to turn the heat on. Brrr~
Stay warm my peeps
K.
