Waaaa, I'm too Hot

The thermometer goes above 75 here, and the whining starts. Because eating a Mr Freeze under a glass table is soooo much cooler.

Mahvelous May

I guess we should just accept the fact Mom will be lucky to sit down once a month to update this thing. Heck, after next month, let's hope the blog doesn't fall into some cyberspace black hole. This month has been wacky, hard to believe it's over in just a few days. The weather has been more like April, so it's crazy to think June is around the corner. 5 days of school left, what?!?

So to recap, we've had a fun time wrapping things up and starting some new things as well. How sad is it that Mom has to pull up her Google Calendar to remember everything that happened? We started off the month with Zach's preschool graduation program. Mom was convinced he was going to be "the kid" on stage either crying or burying his face in his lap, but he was up there, belting out songs like he was looking for a career on Broadway. To say we were proud is an understatement. I know some people think the kid gets a tough rap, but he honestly just keeps us guessing, we never know what his mood is going to be from one day to the next. Since we had some family here for that, we decided to do the one-girl piano recital that day as well. My teacher came to our house (since I'm her only student -- I must be so good she can't handle anyone else) and watched me play a few songs in front of family and some friends. I did very well and was as cool as a cuke! I'm taking a break from piano for a month or two to focus on learning to swim and softball.

Softball practice started up in early May, but thanks to the rain we've only had 2 practices, our first game will be on May 31. I'm pretty good! I enjoy it and it's something new so we're going with it. Mom and Dad also bit the bullet and shelled out the dough for private swimming lessons. I'm almost 8 and this was getting ridiculous...I need to learn to swim and these teenagers are too soft on me so I'm taking lessons from one of the swim team coaches who has kids my age. So far we are on lesson #3 and I'm doing well. Dad's expectation is to drop me in the Illinois river and I should be able to swim to shore ... I think that's setting the bar a bit high. Not to mention the toxic sewage that the mighty IL is known for.

For Mother's Day, we actually went home with Nana after the preschool show on the following day, so Mom was home alone with Dad all weekend! They met us in Dixon on Sunday to pick us up. Mom missed us, but she said it was nice to sleep in for two days and get to relax.

I had a Brownie Graduation that went well, I'm officially done with that after a couple cool activities we had this month. Dad helped out at our Fun and Fit Day, so that was really special. Zach had his last day at preschool followed by a fun day at the park on the hottest day of the month, he's really going to miss school, or we should say he already is. He's excited to have me home in a few days for good, so is Mom. He went to his first baseball game last week. He wasn't really into the game, but more focused on being silly with Tyce and Jack and pouting over Dippin' Dots that his pregnant mom didn't want to stand in line for and pay $6. He did end up running the bases at the end and when asked, he told Mom he had "a little bit of fun, but not much". Sigh.

Mom is hanging in there at 34 weeks. At 32 weeks, the baby was 1/2 a pound heavier than he should be -- although who knows how accurate the sonos are. She's going in for sonos every 2 weeks as well as her regular doc appts. The plan is still to make it to 38 weeks as long as there is no peephole for the baby to be peeking out of ... that sounds so wrong but it's very, literally, true. She is going to schedule the c-section this week, probably for the middle/end of June. We've got the baby's room nearly done and nearly everything we need either borrowed or purchased, so I think we're in good shape. Mom even starting packing her hospital bag last night, it will be here so soon. No names picked out yet -- a few in mind but nothing concrete. Maybe he will look like a Phineas or Ferb. Or better yet, Perry the Platypus.

So that is about as comprehensive of a recap of May as we can come up with. June is going to be chaos. Two softball games a week, swimming lessons, soccer for Zach and chiro twice a week for Dad. And he's going to be the taxi driver that month, Mom is SO looking forward to watching him run around like a crazy person while she sits back with her feet up.

Ta ta for now,
Katherine
