Fairy Princess Butterfly Princess, uh...Twinkle Wingy Princess thing

We really couldn't decide on a name for this costume. It was even harder to decide how to pretend to be a Fairy Butterfly thingy. I ran around a lot, flapping my wings and walking on my tiptoes. Then we made a wand and I waved that around for awhile. I'm not really sure what princesses do, but I had fun and kept the outfit on all night. Mom has been going crazy wondering what happened to this outfit (it was a gift from last Christmas), and she finally found it this weekend in Nana's basement. I had a nice weekend, although I had a sore throat and cough so I wasn't quite 100%, but I am better now. Playgroup was cancelled today...seems everyone has the same thing. So instead, mom and I went shopping to find all sorts of decor for my mini-tree. It was REALLY hard to wait for Dad to come home to help. After dinner, we pimped that tree out and it looks great -- I went with a red theme this year. I put it up in the playroom, by the window for everyone to see. Maybe tonight Dad will help set up the big tree. He worked really hard on the decorations outside. He grew up on a farm and they didn't decorate much, so he wasn't that excited to do it, but when I told him we had "the best house in the whoooollle world", he really was glad he did it. I don't have much going on this week, but Sesame Street Live is only 5 days away, woohoo!

Have a good week,
Katherine

Goodbye Turkey...Helloooo Elastic pants!

Hope you all had a gobbley-good Thanksgiving. I had a great day, even though I snacked so much that turkey never actually crossed my lips. The food turned out super (thanks to mom's incredible cooking skills) and it was a relaxing day filled with coloring and playing. It was really great to see Uncle Adam and he really has done some amazing things in Iraq. He had fun just being lazy and eating and drinking. Today, we will NOT be joining the hoards of mad-shoppers, but probably just laying low. We might start decorating the outside for Christmas and see a movie later. I had a fun party at school on Tuesday, as you can see by my cool Native American costume I was wearing that day. Tomorrow, we are headed up to WI just for one night because mom has her class reunion. She sure is OLD!

Hope you had a very filling day full of thankful things!

Welcome Back

Hi there. I hope everyone is gearing up for Thanksgiving. Remember, don't put your jeans in the dryer this week! We are getting ready here. Mom is off to the store today and will start getting things ready. I am going to have a party at school today. I had a nice weekend and a nice visit with Nicole. She always plays with me and it is nice to have her around. I had fun watching the Bears with Dad on Sunday. Mom is feeling good and hit the 7 month mark this week. Baby brother is very busy and very squirmy, but that is good!

Mom just heard from Nana Vicki a few minutes ago that Uncle Adam landed safely back at Fort Campbell at 10:00 this morning. He his happy to be back, he slept the whole flight and feels pretty good. They will make their way here tomorrow afternoon and stay until Friday...hooray!

I need to get dressed for school now. Have a great week!

So it has been a slow news week...

I know, I know. We sure get in a routine here and don't do much these days that compares to hiking in the Alpes or climbing the Vatican basillica. I mean do you really want to hear about me going to the local library and checking out a book from 1972? Because if you do, well that's what I did today. The only things older than the books at that place are the librarians! Mom picked up a new project for me today while I was at school. I had fun painting these little plastic suncatchers. This morning, mom and I started organizing baby brother's room and washing some of his clothes. We still don't have bedding picked out and are always on the lookout. I had fun at school, as always. Tomorrow, we are going to hang out here and wait for the contractor to fix a couple doors. This weekend, Nicole is coming to visit us. Uncle Adam is slowly making his way back from Iraq. Last we heard, he is in Ku"wait", waiting to fly home. He should be back Sunday and then here for Thanksgiving next week. In other non-related news, a couple people have asked to see what the dining room ended up looking like, so here it is. The curtains are still tacked up until the rod comes tomorrow. Slowly but surely, this house is coming together. Word around here is that Dad will be armed and dangerous this weekend and will be starting work on our basement -- alert the ER now! Just kidding Dad...but seriously, don't lose another finger, ok?

Have a good weekend!
Katherine.

Put on your 3-D goggles...

Hi. I had a very nice weekend. Everything went well and I made it to Nana Vicki's Friday afternoon. I saw a little snow and had fun playing there. On Saturday, I got to go to McDonald's before we met mom back in Dixon. Mom and Dad had fun in Chicago. The 3-D sono went really well and baby brother was in the perfect position for pictures. He still has a lot of growing to do, but it is fun to get an idea of what he will look like. They had a nice get-away and a good dinner downtown with Nicole. We made it back home Saturday night and did some stuff around the house today. We are having playgroup here tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing my friends. Maybe later this week, Dad can try to upload the video we have of baby brother. Have a good week!

Over the River & through the Woods...

...to Grandmother's house I go! That's right, I am off to Nana Vicki's house. I will be staying there by myself tonight while mom and dad go to Chicago to have dinner with some friends. Tomorrow, they are getting a 3D/4D ultrasound done to see some pics of baby brother. At mom's Dr appt today, the doctor took a peek and said the baby is laying in a really good position for seeing the facial details and hopefully he won't move around too much in the meantime. He had his foot in his face again and was really busy since mom had to drink the sugar drink today to test her blood sugar.

Hope you have a great weekend. Maybe I will have some pictures to share later. Mom and I had a good week, and kept busy with the school break. Make sure to thank a veteran today...they keep us safe and protect all the wonderful liberties we are so lucky to have.

Feelin Fine on the Combine!

e

Hi there. I had a fun weekend. We headed up to WI on Friday just in time to see Grandpa Miller before he headed to Florida. Betty had some cookies ready for me as always. On Saturday, we shopped a bit in New Glarus and had lunch with Tara and Corrie. We were going to head to see Dad, but it was really dark and yucky, so we stayed one more night in Monroe. On Sunday, we got going early and went to a birthday breakfast for my Great-Great Uncle "Jiggs" and his wife Donna. We had fun surprising them on their 80th birthdays. Later, I rode in the combine with dad for an hour and then hung out with Grandma D for the afternoon. It was amazing that in that hour on the combine we picked over $2000 worth of corn! Grandpa let me take home an ear of my own. When I got home, I picked ALL the corn off to feed to my farm animals and now we have corn all over the playroom, oh boy!

I do not have school this week, so I think mom and I are going to go to a museum in Bloomington and maybe hit an afternoon movie matinee sometime. I left my buddy Terry the Triceratops at Grandma Ds house, so I am a little sad about that, but I know he is in good hands.

Remember to vote tomorrow!

The Morning After...

After my candy free-for-all yesterday, I just couldn't understand why mom wouldn't let me have it for breakfast. After all, I had it for snack, dinner and dessert yesterday! I mean, come on! Who says Halloween has to be just one day. And it would be a pity to let all that good candy go to waste....or worse yet, fall into the wrong hands! I guess I better stash it somehwere safe! I did really well my first night trick or treating. We hit about 10 houses. I was so cold by the end that I couldn't really hold on to my bag well, I really should've had gloves on! The people in my neighborhood were VERY generous and I made out pretty well. We only had a handful on people ring our doorbell...not the 50 mom was prepared for. I guess that is what happens when you live on the only street filled with more empty houses than full ones. So dad took the leftovers to work -- actually, he immediately put them in his car because mom was dipping in the bowl everytime she walked by. We definitely established that baby brother likes chocolate and even has a little chocolate dance down pat. So today, I am off to burn some calories at gymnastics and then take it easy the rest of the day. We plan to head to WI for Friday and Saturday and then go see the D's later in the weekend. Grandpa D needs help farming and Dad is taking off Friday from work (hopefully)!.

Remember to taper of the sugar gradually....it is easier on your system that way!
