Feeling Cheesey

Did YOU go to Cheese Days? I hope so, because it was fun! I don't remember my last Cheese Days very well, so I was happy to go experience everything again. We started off with the Children's Parade. I dressed in a Native American dress, Zach was Spiderman. We had fun marching around the square and getting candy from the other kids. Over the weekend, we rode some rides, danced to some music and ate lots of good food. Nana bought us really cute Cheese Days shirts. Mom and Dad had fun too, probably a little too much fun, but that's ok. I was so proud of Zach that he rode the little roller coaster with me. We also took a trip to a Dairy Farm to see some cows and learn about all the work involved. Dad wasn't too psyched for that, but we liked it. I especially enjoyed petting the calves. The final thing was the parade on Sunday. We scored some pretty good seats thanks to Tara and got lots of candy. It was cold though, only 50 degrees.

After all that excitement, this week has been dragging by. Just the usual stuff...soccer, piano and schoolwork. I scored a perfect score again on my reading test, my science test and a near perfect on my math test. I got to go see the principal for the second week in a row to get her praise. I was very proud of that!

We may head to the farm this weekend. Time to start pickin' some corn! I hope Grandpa has the combine ready and lots of snacks for me.

Happy Hikers

Howdy, howdy. It's been a pretty good week around here. Zach is still doing great at preschool. I did splendidly on my first, timed math test. Yes, a 100 question timed math test in 2nd grade...crazy. I didn't obsess about the time too much and just gave it my best effort. I've been pretty busy with soccer and piano practice. It's been a fun week though! I'm zipping right along through piano and having fun with soccer. Mom thought we should take a nice close up pic of my toothless top row, thought that was pretty cute!

We didn't have much planned for this weekend. Actually, nothing at all. Mom gets a little antsy so we decided to go hiking on Saturday. On the way there, a small town was having "Meet Your Heros Day", so we stopped really quickly and they let us climb on the ambulances and fire trucks, very cool! Then, we drove about an hour north and hiked some pretty cool trails with a nice canyon and some cool caves. The waterfalls were all dried up, but it was still neat. Zach and I were absolute champions...we hiked very well without complaining and Zach only had to ride in the backpack twice. We relaxed today and watched some pretty pathetic football games. It's hard to believe fall is here already. Not so hard to believe that the Bears still stink.

Should be a quick week coming up and then off to.....drumroll....Cheese Days! I'm so excited to see everyone and watch the parade. Oh yeah, I should warn you all that WI has decided to let Dad come this year. So he'll be there, with all of his positive Cheese Days Spirit that he's so well-known for....sorry!

Later taters!

Spiderman Goes to School

Seems like just yesterday, Mom was taking me to my first day of preschool. I still remember my Dora backpack and how excited I was that the preschool teachers would speak English instead of French. Mom remembers me crying hysterically the first day and then NOT wanting to go for several times after! Well, today was Zach's turn. If you went back six months ago, it would hardly seem possible that Zach would be ready for preschool. Six months ago he was not toilet-trained, still very shy and probably couldn't bear the thought of being separated from Mom for 2 hours. He sure has grown up a lot since then! He's been talking about school since I started last month. Every day he kept asking if it was his turn. Finally, when the big day came, he seemed to have a hard time grasping this was the real-deal until we actually walked him in the building. He did great. He ran right in, found his cubby, washed his hands and found his little carpet square. Mom and Dad gave him a quick hug goodbye and he never looked back. He said his first day was great. They did some coloring, painting, singing, playing outside and of course, the snack was a big hit. He said there's a little girl in his class named Olivia and she's so "cute"! The hardest part about yesterday was making him understand he has to wait 2 days to go back. We're all so happy things went well. Mom's a little sad about the whole thing, but she's too proud of him to get swept up in that just yet.

So good job little Buddy! You are going to have a great year!
