Obtuse Caboose

Hi there! I had a fun weekend at home. We had hoped to go to Grandpa's cabin, but the Rock River is still too high to go boating on, so we stayed around here instead. On Saturday night, we went to Old Chicago and walked around the Peoria riverfront and watched all the boats go by. On Sunday, we went for a mini-hike in a mini-forest. I climbed up on a bridge that wasn't quite finished yet! Mom was last in line, she said she was "bringing up the rear". I thought she said she was "drinking up the beer". Oh Mommy, I'm not too sure that's a good thing for your 4 year old to think about you on a mid-morning hike! Dad finished up some landscaping later in the day. He's getting pretty good at it, Mom just may make him do the entire house! He's whipping through his honey-do list so quick, we'll have to come up with more to keep him busy. I bet he'll LOVE that! Zach is really loving books lately. He brings a book up to you and starts clapping and yelling. His attention span isn't too long, but he loves books about cars and animals.

I'm excited for soccer tonight. Maybe Mom will remember to bring the camera and show you my athletic skills.

Have a good week!

Oh Look, They're Falling in Love

That's what I said when Uncle Adam and Casey danced together for the first time. How cute, huh? I must say we had a great time in TN. We made it down there just fine, taking a break about halfway for the night. On Sunday, we did the whole trip in one long stretch and it went pretty well! That DVD player was great fun for us and we both snacked. Alot. I did stupendously as a first-time flower girl. I took my job very seriously and did it with grace and precision. Casey looked beautiful and it was sweet to see Uncle Adam get all choked up when he said his vows. We had so much fun visiting with family that we haven't seen in ages and getting to know Casey's family as well. There is a small album of some of the pics HERE. Our hotel was super sweet and we had fun swimming and playing. I love staying in hotels. Zach was a bit of a pistol when it came to sleeping in the same room with us, he kept me up a lot, but that's ok. I've got all week to catch up on my rest. The coolest part was when the helicopter picked up the bride and groom at the end of the night. That was around 11:30 and Zach and I were still going strong! On the way home Sunday, Mom made us stop in the town of Metropolis, just North of the IL/KY border. I didn't understand why until I saw this GIANT statue of Superman. It was so cool. They were having a contest that day to see how many people could dress up as Superman in one location. I hope they broke the record!

Anywho, we've got a nice quiet week coming up here. We're hoping to go to the zoo and hit another local festival or two. The weather is BEA-utiful here and were going to soak it all up!

Love

Danananananana -- I Wanna Be Sedated

Lots of energy and what better way to use it than spinning senseless. NOT a good thing to do by the tops of staircases, by the way. I'm not sayin' who, but I'm just sayin'.

Few more days till we leave for the big wedding. Mom put the DVD player in the car today and let us test it out. Kind of nice to have both of us restrained AND entertained. Don't be surprised if you see us sitting in the garage a lot, staring at the seats (see photo at left). Seriously, this is supposed to be just an investment for the trip. The plan is to take it out of the car next week. Dad pretty much refused to drive any distance without one, so Mom broke down and bought one with two screens. Our last one lasted for 14 transatlantic flights! Let's hope this one survives some kicks and jabs. Silence from the backseat -- priceless! Later, we went to Super Walmart (who I am convinced has some kind of superhero powers, or maybe supervilian, not sure on that one) and bought oodles of snacks for the road trip. Lots of stuff I have forever been begging for, but never tried; like yogurt from a tube, individually wastefully-wrapped pouches of junk, rainbow twizzlers and some cherry cordial Kisses for Nana. I sure hope we have another reason to go Tennessee again, this is fun!

Anywho, past my bedtime. Better listen to Mom so she doesn't change her mind and take my cool stuff back! Oh yeah, I had my first night of half-pint basketball this week and had loads of fun! I'm pretty agile for such a little squirt.

He was a Good Pig...

We're not sure what happened, but yesterday we woke up to find that Nemo the guinea pig was no longer alive. Pretty shockingly sad. He was acting fairly normal the day before. I cried a lot at first, but then I had a lot of questions -- tricky questions that Mom is still sorting out the answers to. Later that night, Dad went way out into the alfalfa field behind out house and buried Nemo. He loved alfalfa and will spent a nice eternity there, surrounded by hay. We're going to take his old supplies to the humane society today since they often get abandoned guinea pigs there. No more pets for awhile. Mom is quite bewildered and feeling very guilty that he died after only a year. Pet store animals are not known for their health or well-breeding. If there ever is a next time, we'll adopt one for sure.

In happier news, life gave me some lemons last weekend, so I sold lemonade. Ok, ok, it was that powdered stuff, but we threw some lemons in it for marketing purposes. The neighbor kids and I raked in the dough and now I have $15 burning a hole in my pocket. I have no plans for it yet, just to miser it away like my mother. I made sure we spent Mom's garage sale earnings well. We went to the carnival last weekend. I rode rides, ate junk food and played some silly games. Zach was a little anxious (just like last year), so he was content to sit in his stroller and watch from a safe distance. He cheered me on from the edge of the roller coaster.

Mom's been running some learning drills on me this week. Lots of writing practice and reading practice, but that's ok -- I like having some quiet time with her when Zach naps. We're off to the Bridal store today to pick out my headpiece and tomorrow I will go & get my hair done. Hooray for being a girl!

Have a lovely, muggy day
