Quite a Spectacle

I had a very fun weekend with Nana here. I was happy she could come to my bowling banquet on Saturday. I received a really neat trophy for participation. We had lunch there afterwards and went to Peoria later to find some glasses for me. I ended up getting a pair of glasses that were just right for my face. They were ready later that afternoon and I've been SO good about wearing them. When she first put them on me, I was really amazed at how clear everything was. The optician said I really should wear them all the time so my eyes don't need to keep adjusting. I'll be wearing them to preschool today for the first time. I'm a little nervous about it, but I promised Mom that I won't let anyone else try them on and I'll take really good care of them. I still need to go back for one more adjustment...they are a little bit crooked and pinch my nose.

Dad was gone farming for the weekend. Us girls and Zach had a good old time. I cried a for a few minutes after Nana left. It is hard to live far away...it is a lot closer than France, but still far to me. Zach has been a very happy little boy lately and really hamming it up. He likes to run with eyes closed and scream like a wild man at the same time. He's saying a few words -- like Dada, ball, book and no-no. We think he says "sis", but we're not quite for sure yet.

Hope you have a great week!

One Smart Cookie

Bet you thought I was talking about myself? No, this is literally, one clever little cookie. Yesterday was my un-birthday at school. Since I have a summer bday, we celebrated it yesterday. We are not allowed to bring in homemade treats, so Mom asked someone to make some clever cookies (the same lady that did Zach's cake). Turns out she can transfer any image from the internet to an edible frosting! So I had some pretty sweet looking (and tasting) Land Before Time cookies. I had a fun day and when they sang Happy Birthday to me, they all said "dino dino" in between the words. I felt so special!

Dad is in Chicago for work, so it is just us 3 trouble makers around here. We're getting stuff ready for Nana's visit tomorrow. She'll be here Friday and Saturday. My bowling banquet is Saturday morning, so I'm happy Nana can come watch me get my trophy. Maybe someday I'll share my bowling song with you.

Happy Bearthday

I mean really, how lucky is Dad that his birthday is on Earth Day? He didn't see the fun in it, but we did. Dad was really excited for his traditional Cherry Chip Cake. We got him a new tool chest and lots of love.

For Earth Day, we've decided to commit to buying more organics and more locally grown produce. We already recycle everything we can and have switched to some healthier products, but there is always more to do. We hope everyone can find one Earth Day resolution to stick to this year. I was really proud to wear my shirt to school yesterday and have Mom come read the "Dinosaurs Save the Planet" book.

Hope you all are enjoying this great weather! We have been outside a lot and getting lots of playtime in.

Lates!

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

Who would've thought I would ever have the opportunity to ride a Monster truck? Although, given the demographics of where we live, I'd say it was just a matter of time. We went to the Air Show this weekend. It was ok, but very crowded and I had a hard time tracking the planes with the bright sun. We all got a little pink -- Mom didn't think to put sunscreen on us yet. The Blue Angels were pretty awesome and loud! I also liked sitting in the cockpit of the Air Force plane.

Dad's birthday and Earth Day are both tomorrow. I'm excited that Mom is coming to my school today to read and talk about Earth Day. We have some new goals for this year that we're hoping to kick off tomorrow.

The rest of our weekend was quiet. We played outside a lot and Dad got caught up on some outdoor chores. Zach just loves being outside and is so much happier to burn off some energy. Oh yeah, we saw a really awesome bubble magician Friday night that did some neat tricks.

Ta ta for now darlings, I have a basement to go clean.

Baby Homework

We were playing school today. I sit there and Mom tells me what to do. Gee, not much different than anything else around here! Today I had to write the alphabet in lowercase. Man, those "q"s are tricky. Zach got in on school today. We taped a little piece of paper to the table and let him scribble. All fun and games till he went to rub his eyes and still had the crayon in his hand. Ouchers.

Speaking of eyes, went to the eye doctor today. Guess who needs glasses? Bummer. Mom is pretty sad. We'll go pick out some frames this week. Mom had a hunch that something was up and she was right. I'm about 20/60 and will need them for reading and school.

Poop sandwich! (Mind you, if I ever actually said poop sandwich, I would be the middle of a spanking sandwich)

Girls will be Girls

I had a musical sing-a-long playgroup today. I had the idea to make musical note cupcakes and have a little dance party with my pals. Due to illnesses and whatnot, we had a mostly girl playgroup today. All was fine, but there were a few moments of hurt feelings, exclusions and attitude flare-ups! Us girls are a bit dramatic, but the good thing is that we can sort it all out and be friends again in minutes. But really, Mom is wondering if this is just the beginning of things. Welcome to Dramaville. Population: ME. My tears dried quickly and I went off to school.

Poor Zach-man was up since 6:30 and mean ol' Mom made him stay up until it was time to take me to school at 12:30. Poor little guy was falling asleep at the table. I had fun yelling to keep him awake, but he sure didn't think it was funny.

Later peeps

Shove-a-Word

I totally invented this new game while Mom was cooking tonight. I took down all the letter magnets, separated the vowels from the consonants (Mom does NOT remember teaching me this) and we sat down and shoved letters together to make words. Um, yeah. I was reading the words we made! Not to brag or anything, but I am one smarty tarty lately! So, if you ever find yourself bored with a bunch of letters laying around, indulge in a good game of shove a word. I think I may have to copyright that name and patent the game. Just as soon as I wipe that chocolate off my face.....

Protective Eyewear is Advisable

Zach has been a little picky lately at mealtime (gee, I wonder where he learned that?). Mom let him try using a fork the other day and it seemed to work for the time being. Hopefully the novelty won't wear off too soon and he'll keep at it! As you can see, things get a bit messy and baths in the kitchen sink are becoming more frequent with his new skills.

I had a quiet weekend at home with Mom and Dad. Got some new kicks at the shoe store the other day. I even scored the light-up Dora tennis shoes that Mom swore she'd never buy, but they were on clearance and you know Mom can't pass up a deal. I love it when Dad is around to play with me on the weekends. He lets me eat his junky cereal that I don't get the other 5 days of the week.

I've got a busy week going on. Had a birthday party this morning, school and then we're having playgroup here on Wednesday. I haven't been eating without whining lately, so my dinos are locked up in the basement closet. I sure hope I get them back by Wednesday. I have to prove to Dad that I can eat in a timely manner first. If only I could have hot dogs and chicken nuggets every meal, there would never be a problem!

Hope you had a fabou weekend!

Dayzed and not-so-confusted

Check out what a great job I did writing up to 30 yesterday! I wrote every number by myself, I just needed a reminder from Mom about the order now and then. Once she explained that it was like a pattern, that clicked with me and I was able to figure out the rest on my own. I like doing my calendar each month and seeing what fun things are coming up.

Speaking of FUN, I haven't had a whole lot to chat about the past week. The blog has been a bit neglected. In fact, I'm not sure what it's fate will be if I start school in the fall. Zach can maybe spice it up a bit. So the past week has been eventful in a different sort of way. Mom took us to see the Horton film a week ago Thursday. It was Zach's first movie. He did really well in the movie booster seat and was pretty content as long as he was getting a steady supply of snacks. I liked the movie a lot and tried to write a book about it when we got home. On that same day, before the movie, Mom fell going UP the stairs, twisted her foot and was pretty darn funny since she had to hop around like a one-legged rabbit that night. She had x-rays the next day and things were fine. We had painters here this week. They repainted everything except our bedrooms. It is nice to have them gone and have the house back to ourselves. I loved giving them a lesson on dinos though, I wouldn't stop chatting their ears off. Zach was very afraid of them and would NOT nap as long as they were around. Guess he was being the man of the house and making sure they did a good job.

We're talking about Hawaii at school right now, so if anyone wants to contribute a trip for my family so I can better learn about Hawaiian culture, please feel free. You should see my hula dance, I got some superfly moves going on.

Looks like we'll be heading North this weekend if Dad decides to go help get farm equipment ready with Gramps. Should be a nice weekend and fun to get out.

Zach is pretty busy and it is hard to get him to sit still long enough for a photo. He doesn't stop to play much either. He just walks, and walks and walks. He threw my croc in the toilet the other day. He has a funny shoe obsession and we find slippers and shoes in every corner of the house. He's a handful, but boy do we have so much fun together. Every morning I play in his crib with him until Mom decides to roll out of bed. What would she do without me?

Better grab some grub before school. Have a fab weekend!
