Up, Up and Away!

We headed to WI last weekend to check out the balloons. There were some bad storms Friday night but we were able to see a few go up Saturday. It was a busy, busy weekend but worth the trip. We spent the day Saturday visiting Tara at "her lake". Mom wishes she had something like that close by. It is so nice to play in the sand and wade in the water. After that we were able to visit for a bit with Uncle Bob and Aunt Debbie. We went out to eat and then off to the fairgrounds to see the balloons and play on some toys. THEN, as if that wasn't enough excitement for the day, we headed out to the infamous Sky-Vu to see Toy Story 3. The movie was cute; very funny it parts but it was a little dark and scary in parts as well. The cymbal-banging monkey had both Zach and I in tears. We spent a good hunk of Father's Day in the car and the rest just chilling out. We also had to go to my orientation for College for Kids that night.

I started my Dinosaur class there on Monday. I go each afternoon for 4 hours. I just love it. Mom thought it was a little bizarre dropping me off there, but when she picked me up and saw how much fun I had, she was happy I went. I have to admit though, I haven't learned anything new, but I'm having tons of fun sharing my knowledge and doing cool things like making dinosaur eggs, digging for fossils and assembling skeletons. I've even been helping my teacher properly pronounce the names of the dinosaurs ;)

So tennis wraps up this week and next week I'll officially be done with all scheduled activities. I'll do a few private swimming lessons here and there and maybe a class at the nature center. I also need to work on filling up my Summer Science Passport book. We're starting to plan out our trip to TN for July. That will be here fast. We're also hoping to sneak another trip in to WI and maybe even further up North as well.

Hope you are staying cool as a cuke and having a great summer! Here are a couple pics of some other fun activities: a trip to a herpetology class on snakes and reptiles, and a trip to the Farm Park.

Play Us a Song, You're the Piano Girl...

Did someone call 911? Because I was on FIRE yesterday at my recital. I was so cool, that a cucumber was jealous. Despite the freakish storms, loss of power and cramped conditions, I kept my cool and played my 6 song beautifully, all by the illumination of a flashlight. I was so happy that Nana and Papa came all the way just to watch me play. I am a lucky little girl to have such a great opportunity. We went to my favorite place, Texas Roadhouse afterwards for a celebratory meal.

The rest of the weekend was pretty chill. We ran some errands today and did some yard work. Mom's garden is growing faster than we can keep up with it. We had some fun waterslide-action with my friends before they left for Disney World this weekend.

Back to the grind of tennis lessons and slacking off this week. On a sad note, I will have some restricted privileges this week. Mom found spit in Zach's hair tonight, she asked me, eye-to-eye if I did it and I lied. Not just once, but four times. Mom knew there was no other way that Zach could have gotten saliva on the top of his head so she kept pressing me. I finally came clean when she threatened to take away my dinos. My punishment is no ice cream truck, and the new toy I bought today with my garage sale earnings has been taken away for good. When Mom told me the saddest thing was that she didn't know if she could trust me anymore, I laid in my bed and cried for an hour. That hurt the worst:( Hopefully the lesson was learned. Zach and I were messing around back by the garden and I still don't have a good explanation as to how the spit got in his hair, but that's neither here nor there. In the meantime, if you see Zach rocking a slick new hair-do, you'll know why.

Rough Life

We've had so much fun lately, it should be a crime. Well, the garage sale wasn't very much fun for Mom, but it was fun for me. I did a lemonade stand with my friend and we were pretty good salespeople. Mom needs to take a lesson from us. Between the bad weather and heavy competition, they didn't sell much. They're actually going to leave everything in the garage and do it again this weekend. Dad says anything in the garage is forbidden from coming back in the house!

Our weekend was super busy and fun. We did some hiking, played outside a ton, went to a friend's house Saturday night and had movie night in our backyard Sunday night. It's amazing what kind of show you can pull off with a plain white sheet and a projector. We watched Ice Age 3, had popcorn and loads of candy. Mom was so busy running around she forgot to snap pictures. We decided next should be a Guitar Hero tourney in the backyard. The possibilities are endless!

I started tennis again yesterday. I did really well and had lots of fun. Today is looking pretty yucky, so it's off to the library. I've been doing lots of reading and journaling over break. I still will tell you flat out that I'd rather be in school, but Mom is doing a pretty good job of keeping me entertained at home. Zach and I have been playing great and using our imaginations lots. Zach, by the way, is fully toilet trained. It just kind of happened a couple of weeks ago. He was outside swimming, Mom let him pee in the grass and since then he's just decided he's ready. He wears underwear full time, no accidents at all and can even get his pants down by himself. He still can't master the number 2 business, but he's getting close. Looks like he'll get to go to preschool this fall after all!

I have my big recital coming up on Saturday. I've been practicing like crazy. Wish me luck!
